naibu was given the choice of remixing anything in the none60 back catalogue and chose to remix silent dust’s collaborations with detroit’s selfsays to astounding effect, keeping the hip hop elements of the original and mixing them with his unique drum work and atmospherics. selfsays vocals jump around naibu’s reworkings superbly to create two essential hip hop/drum & bass crossover tracks.

various is a good word to describe this escales vol.2 from croisière musique crew, the second various e.p. from the label, which seems so diverse that it almost could seem inconsistent to someone not familiar with the label. at the same time this e.p. summarizes perfectly a collection of different styles and aspects of croisière musique, from some heavy dancefloor-friendly house and techno to more abstract acid grooves, going through breaky minimalism. a1 – the e.p. starts with battle of wits from sebastian eduardo which is a direct uncompromising floor-oriented piece of house, setting a filtered atmosphere, bouncy bassline and a filtered synth which reminds us of a dubby atmosphere. a thick and compact atmospheric part progressively takes on the middle of the track and suddenly fades to let the main dancing pattern return. a2 – lowlifequalitys is a spatious acid piece which contains elements that are close to the aesthetic of video games. all synths coming together give a sense of confusion yet ordered by the repetitiveness of the loop. the sensation of something nerd and muddle rise from this experience, a expression of weirdness by the member of les points.b1 – programming behavior sets a step back in the ep, evolving around an hypnothic vocal piece which is extracted from an old interview of george clinton, heavily chopped and processed. on top of the simple breaky drum pattern which recenters the experience, gets added an arpeggio and a modular synth sounding sequence which progressively dramatizes the track. rx delivers here a mysterious piece of minimalism, bitter yet swingy. b2 – the e.p. ends with catan, the first appearance from françois, who co-founded croisière musique with rx. starting with an ambiant and breaky atmosphere, catan quickly evolves to a drivy four step techno piece. on top of the leading synth comes different glitchy elements, aerial pads and a disturbing shamanistic glitch in the middle of the track that announces a break which confuses the listener. the track follows-up on this contradiction between the hypnotic grooves and the solid drivy techno.

tuff city kids provide three scintillating remixes of iconic radio slave tracks this may. since launching the project in the late 00s, frankfurts gerd janson and phillip lauer’s tuff city kids moniker has become synonymous with quality that’s seen them cement a reputation as specialist remixers. the duo now reinterprets two radio slave productions released a decade ago. their take on bell clap dance captures the essence of the original by factoring in its various elements, such as its intricate hook and gloomy melody, whilst morphing it into an animated and echoing contemporary cut. radio slaves screaming hands then receives two new versions the dreamscape uk mix is suitably titled thanks to soaring pads, subtle breaks and a mesmerising bassline, whereas the krautdrums mix meanders forward with distorted kicks, stuttering effects and raucous acid

the fifth modern cathedrals release by altstadt echo seeks to exhume genuine, complex, and often contradictory human emotion from dead samples and broken beat structures. throughout the 1905 ep, the artist crafts melodies that embody a tension between nostalgia and frustration, supported by carefully textured and relatively functional percussion. the remix of dry despair by abdulla rashim (ar) strips the original of its lofty chords, instead pursuing a focused and bone-dry experimental techno approach. in contrast, the remix by stave combines elements of the original’s drifting atmosphere with violent industrial percussion.

after multiple cassette and 12” releases through kastil’s stale in 2016, it’s time for irazu’s latest addition to the series of complex techno works. “shtamm” is a package that contains four original cuts + a remix by specialist of high-end machine music regis. “refused to be found” is a soaring travel through moods and sonic landscapes which at times resonates like a helicopter flying through an inner city estate building. the aesthetic nature of the opening track is extended through “shtamm”. a multi dimensional piece of work that showcases a more submersive side of irazu s broad pallette. “last hours” is a cinematic stroke of vivid pads that sound like they were extracted from a remastered russian thriller classic. regis opens ups the b-side with a rework of “shtamm”. the off-beat machine funk of the remix leaves little of the original mix intact, yet regis has turned it into a staggering piece of ferocity. “torso” is another irazu original that sound like 7.5 minutes of vigorous rhythms and swerving perc elements.

legendary dj daniele baldelli, who was resident at the infamous cosmic club on lake garda and pioneer of the cosmic sound, joins forces with italian maestro dj rocca and takes file under disco on a journey into outer disco space. famous as an extremely eclectic and open-minded dj, here baldelli transports this approach to the production of funkynoizer . and in the hands of a master producer like rocca the result is a track which fuses dub, afro, disco and electronic elements seamlessly into a tasty alternative discoid brew. remix action comes from brasilian duo selvagem (big fans of baldelli) whose reputation grows and grows with every spin of each record and every release that passes through their talented hands. here they dress the original in leopard skin pants and throw into into an all night, outdoor carnival party where anything goes. next up pete herbert & dicky trisco take the original on a heads down disco trip and work it to the bone. live driving bass, funky clav and a glorious piano line do a wonky waltz with the the afro dub essentials of the original. finally the man himself dj rocca treats us to a very classy disco-boogie version that would have rocked legendary parties back in the halcyon days of nyc disco

ever reliable canadian producer fred everything makes his first appearance of 2017 with a selection of choice remixes of house classics for the lazy days label. on the a-side he s taking to crazy p s -like a fool- a vocal and dub version and laying down a slick, bubbling groover that fits perfectly with the original s warm, disco-infused elements. on the flip, he takes on roach motel s -the night- and makes it into a shimmering nocturnal cut peppered with impeccable synth lines and a sleazy vocal turn. by way of variety the final track sees fred create a laid back balearic, auto-tuned version of franky selector s -wind swept dune-.

next up on detroit wax is a phenomenal two track ep from the prolific eddie fowlkes(techno originator - godfather of techno soul). renowned for their ability to seamlessly fuse together elements of urban techno & urban house and old school funky influences, and the dj production from the home land of detroit. side a. a deep vocals from naa dee(from the lu, swiss) has soulful ness that heats up the track into inspirational movement on the dance floor that just don t stop on the dance floor. side (b). this is a surefire dancefloor detroit destroyer that would be right at home in any dj s create already gaining heavyweight support from the likes of loco dice, norm tally, robert diezt, juan atkins, delano smith, shall i continue?

abstaxion and kasper bjørke return for their second collaboration on dc salas and abstraxions biologic records imprint. matin + nuit is a 3-track ep out in april. biologic records aim to explore the relationship between organic and analogue, natural and urban. this idea of polarity is addressed here through the themes of morning and night. matin is a ten-minute journey through a glistening landscape. celestial arpeggios and subtle dissonances are grounded by a hypnotic bassline and restrained percussion. ivre (drunk) takes an emotive turn. disorienting acid bass winds its way through mournful harmonies and overcast melodies, held together by a spirited rhythmic pattern. ‘nuit’, naturally, progresses into darker territory. there are familiar elements of disco, but they’ve been mangled to create something far more twisted. drums take the lead, punctuated by assertive bass stabs and ominous chords that howl through cavernous acoustics. matin + nuit explores seemingly familiar themes without the use of cliché, employing a diverse range of sound manipulation techniques to paint vivid imagery.

brainwaltzera debuts on film. the anonymous producer, whose work has has already received online approval from legendary british idm auteur aphex twin, offers up an extended ep for the berlin based imprint. in 2015 a soundcloud profile under the name user18081971 - now identified as belonging to richard d. james, commented on curious brainwaltzera upload quilat spring 1 outtake. the move prompted speculation as to who exactly is behind the music. exquisitely produced and executed in such fine fashion so as to decry pure imitation - there’s plenty to theorise here. regardless of their true creator - which will undoubtedly remain a secret for the time being, the compositions on film006 are of similarly high calibre. varied in approach and marrying both electronic & acoustic elements with ease, the six tracks that comprise the record range from yearning ambient segues and dreamy down tempo grooves to otherworldly krautrock and more direct, dance floor fare - but remain bound tight as a cohesive and functional body of work by a glorious, arcane musicality. whether weaving soft electronic tones in and amongst snappy breaks or detuned drum-machine strikes, the artist’s ear for acoustic harmony is perhaps the pervading theme across the six tracks that make up the aecoba ep, marking it out as an excellent addition to the film labels growing catalogue

twr72 is back with a full new story starring lucid as the lead. lucid dropped out of space on a world called planet earth. it’s luminous and vivid appearance were instantly clear. at first lucid was a bit reserved but during it’s first steps it opened up and showed some colorful emotions and hints of it’s personality. with detailed patterns of communication lucid tried to find a way through this new world. erudite, which was already for a more prolonged time on planet earth, picked up the incomprehensible code from lucid and reproduced it into a solid and clever message. erudite was keen enough to think of a way to communicate back with lucid as it noticed lucid needed help. but it needed someone else to bring the message to lucid. so erudite asked help from colloquial who could easily transcript the message back to lucid. colloquial used different types of frequencies to connect to lucid, but it wasn’t that easy. lucid already travelled further and was hard to reach. therefor colloquial tried to use heavier elements to make a more solid composition. unfortunately not only positive things arrived from space. aporia was a rather negative influence which disturbed the link between colloquial and lucid. aporia tried to force the communication by continuously changing the elements of the message. but it wasn’t all that bad, because at the end aporia brought the two important elements of the message together.

soma are proud to present the debut album from rebekah as she unleashes the incredible “fear paralysis”. rebekah has consistently been one of the most ferocious and exciting techno artists for some time and is currently riding high within the soma ranks after debuting on the label back in 2015 with the audacious “confined heart ep”. this album has certainly been a labour of love for rebekah as uncertain times, musically, lead her to refocusing all her time and energy into developing her sound with the aim of creating a cleaner rhetoric than she was generally known for. the culmination of this process has found rebekah returning to a simpler time where elements from the depths are explored thoroughly within “fear paralysis”.

after starting out with eps showcasing tracks by various artists, invite’s choice is back with a 3 track ep by drafted.
the ep is opened by detached with it’s dominating, repeating tom/percussive low-end sound. the frequential spectrum is filled up by other percussive elements and reverb-filled effects, which give the track a spacious feel. oxidian starts out in your face with it’s droning and repetitive synth. the track evolves into an abstract apogee with intense synthesis before it breaks down again, allowing for a smooth mix to be made. sphere closes down this 3-track ep on the b-side and does so with lots of fast changing hi-hat and ride patterns and one sharp sounding synthesizer, which makes it a perfect b-side closing track. once again a great showcase of sustainable modern day electronic music by invite’s choice!

the late 1960s / early 70s brought about a change in sound for many gospel groups. producers and label heads at abc peacock recognized that the traditional sound of gospel needed to be updated to appeal to the younger market. the groups started to incorporate elements of soul and funk with arrangements influenced by the r&b records of the time. this compilation presents 13 striking examples of this seismic shift in black music by some of the greatest groups in gospel music’s rich heritage.

fragrant harbour has invited general ludd s richard mcmaster (golden teacher) and tom marshallsay (dam mantle) to end the year long hiatus since the last fghb release. the first track what brings dark, african rhythms alongside meticulously structured techno elements, coming together to create an intense and maddening energy. later last night continues forward with interspersed percussion layered on top of inventive sub-frequencies bringing a constant pulse to the track. the fastest track of the record, making strange ends with more madness a hollow mid-low range drives unrelenting throughout, visited unexpectedly by frenzied percussive highs.

james dexters star has been rising for a while now - the young brit turning out killer tracks regularly on the back of hugely well received dj sets. on his second outing for dessous recordings, dexter does what he does best - four slices of deep, funky and vibing house music for the floor. lead track drift is typical of dexters flair for subtle, edgy sounds, wrapped inside a warm and inviting groove. elements come and go, but the shuffling, infection feel runs throughout. take me is a more upfront vibe with a seriously bumping groove - dexter clearly well versed in the roots of house music from chicago. ‘whose rules ?’ is a snappy, bright and lively production, with a sub bass that will troubler some of the world’s best club systems in the coming months. the light, jazzy vocals offsets the groove perfectly - sure to be a big tune for a wide variety of djs. the last track of the release is disco deep - and it pretty much does exactly what it says - a swung, groovy feel punctuated by disco claps and balearic flourishes that will sound as good on the beach as in the basement.

swiss duo me & her join the hottrax roster with a robust release featuring british duo dense & pika and detroit’s dj bone on remix duties. with recent appearances on deeperfect, natura viva and clarisse records, the rising duo has quickly cemented a reputation as ones to watch since making their production debut back in 2014. joining them on the release is dense & pika, who have been taking the world by storm whilst releasing on leading labels such as adam beyer’s drumcode, scuba’s hotflush, not to mention renowned uk imprint hypercolour. meanwhile, dj bone needs little introduction having paved the way for quality techno for over two decades including running his renowned subject detroit imprint. sturdy kicks and intricate effects drive ‘wild rage’ forward before introducing metallic snares and animated melodies. on the other hand, ‘thunderstruck’ is a dusky production composed of heady stabs and echoing elements that together generate a compelling groove. dense & pika’s shuffling remix of ‘wild rage’ shines a spotlight on a tantalizing synth as eerie nuances operate throughout, before dj bone concludes the package with a trippy and percussive reinterpretation of his own.

the practice of pseudoscience, a three track ep by m parent, is the second vinyl release from the us based label chem club records. having been inspired by peripheral thoughts about pseudosciences, this ep is washed in steady emotional build ups using airy reverb, scattering percussion, throbbing stabs and solid kicks. the title track (a1) uses these elements to move towards a piercing synth peak while cycle of intellect (a2) spaces out these features as it creeps to a dubby impactful end. the b side temazcal rites was directly motivated by a scorching summer day when the intensity of the sun sparked an idea for a sizzling percussive experiment. what were left with is a funky but emotive soundscape that tops off the ep in a unique fashion.

after his acclaimed heatwave and shadows mixtapes, leonce releases insurgency on fade to mind, the first official ep from the young atlanta-based producer. insurgency was born from demos and sketches first recorded in 2014-2015, inspired by leonce’s favorite elements of house music and his desire to recraft these influences into his own club microverse. in leonce’s words: “if house is a feeling, then insurgency is me subverting that feeling across different tempo ranges and going into weirder and darker territory, like the classic raw house tracks that inspired me.”

im klanggarten is the very first release on frank wiedemanns newly established bigamo label by the musician, video artist, author and dj rainer buchmüller aka fred und luna. it began as an homage to german electronic music of the 70s and 80s known as kraut. however, rainer gives his style its own name: elektrokraut or krautelektro, in which he blends kraut elements, such as repetitive rhythms, with beautiful melodies and modern electronic sounds. this lp comes as a double vinyl in a gatefold cover!

new york’s sheik n beik continue to assert themselves as a trusted outlet of chilly, understated techno following up releases from xamiga, keita sano and hermans with a va from family members ivvy, mr dello, og ag and ray rose. first up is mr dello with ‘pilgrims’ - a bold march that propels few finely crafted elements with deft usage of warped analogue fx. intensity snowballs throughout as metallic synths thicken before og ag aka andrew grant follows up with ‘410 prospect’ - an intergalactic transmission rich with bending synth lines. one half of dirk largo, ray rose then casts his eyes down in following up with tight, shuffling drums and buoyant synth tones all suffused with a healthy dose of dub before ivvy - a fresh alias from madison levine. originating from seattle’s burgeoning hardware scene, he offers up ‘shape speed’ - a languid, capacious groove that drives thick drums through dense and dubby textures that round off a solid addition to a catalogue continuing to go from strength to strength.

brian abelson aka see other is one of the brightest talents in this field to emerge from new york in some time. he’s been honing and refining his style of brooding, purring, oscillating house rollers for some time. the final brew is humble mixture of low-slung smallville-esque house warmth, fred p level deepness and playful, tinkering wooden melodies that recall some of the finest work from the drumpoet community collective.
across this debut ep is a masterful grasp of the deep house template, with an array of hook-based elements that turn respectable raw bangers into transcendental experiences both at home and in the dance.
waitin is the modern classic, fallin is the party hammer, pushin is the soul & the feeling & the vibe, peter’s lament is the loving tender cuddle in a west coast hammock, change is the moody, sleep-deprived closer.

the second instalment of the enigmatic olympos series comes in the form of apollo, recognised as the god of music, art, medicine and plague amongst other traits. the a side gets underway with the hypnotic cutter (a1) (ena), that intersects its atmospheric layers and solid bassline to a trippy effect while a2 s (a2) (duo) consists of syncopated percussive elements swathed in blissful pads and acidic segments. flipside s (b1(tria) returns to denser and more psychedelic waters that leads nicely to the breezy and gloaming vibes of (b2) tessera). all in all, a proper immersive head trip. ltd hand stamped.

after more than 2 years of waiting berlin-based artist fabian dikof is back with a new release on best works records his ep the who his trade-mark sound remains: catchy arpeggio-sounds with tech-house synth usage. with these elements he creates a very mature tapestry that gives the tune great dynamic play in its rhythmic morphosis. the track camouflage features berlin-based vocalist ann weller from the band ann & bones. last but not least remixer dubspeeka reworks the original giving it a more minimal techno-flavour and with its tool-character it hits the dance-floor full on. the who ep is yet another great stepping stone for fabian dikof. there is more to come from this gifted producer.

cold water, bad weather and a car packed with machines. best conditions to make a record. after two weeks, the reflections are three tracks, in three different ways but with many connections. the ep starts with “glowe” and technoid breakbeats, which are being controlled by heavy chords. “wiek” stays with the pattern of breaks but gets more emotional through various pads, which appear and suddenly disappear. on the b-side “spycker” finds his path, with the help of several percussive elements.

arbouretum has been called “the best of the millennial classic rock bands, a guitarfuzzed powerhouse.” the band, founded by guitarist and vocalist dave heumann, effortlessly weaves its melodies and guitar solos with often hypnotic rhythms of bassist corey allender and drummer brian carey around the deliberate keyboard of matthew pierce to lift the vocals. the results are a full sounds delivered with a striking sense of intimacy. throughout their time together, the baltimore-based band have been praised for their ability to weave elaborate vocal lines, and guitar solos that often unravel into extended improvisation, but never with as much fnesse as on song of the rose. in less practiced hands, these ideas could easily fall into contrivance, but on song of the rose, arbouretum use these elements to perfect their craft of storytelling in song, both lyrically and sonically.

moving music records present the previous unreleased soundtrack to the norwegian cult movie, heaven and hell. a soundtrack written and composed by norwegian maestro egil monn-iversen. it features some of the key norwegian jazz musicians, terje rypdal, jan garbarek and the late svein christiansen. jan erik kongshaug mixed the session.
it was originally recorded summer 1969 and planned for a full release, but it never happened, until now! one of the most exciting norwegian releases this year.
egil monn-iversen nearly perfect score borrows elements from john barrry and lalo schifrin soundtrack music, the opening theme song, sung by inger lise rypdal sounds like it could be a norwegian bond movie theme! key players are hired in from the late 60’s norwegian jazz-scene and you can hear early talents like jan garbarek and terje rypdal in full bloom! the result is a vivid soundtrack that could rank up with any good 60s 70s european groovy soundtrack score!

the fourth release on bjarki and johnny chrome silver’s bbbbbb records, comes hot on the heels of the first. two and three are limited run, vinyl only, hand stamped releases to be sought out from your local dealer. bjarki returns as cucumb45 with the 5-track ep ‘something weirdcore’. on the surface there are elements of jungle, breakbeat, techno and rave, but to say this spans genres would be an understatement – it defies them. the title track instantly commands attention with breaks samples offset against indecipherable robotic groans and melancholic chords, but a sudden change of drum pattern shows this is more than a reprieve of known territory – it’s a voyage away from the limits of tempo and genre. this theme is explored throughout the ep by way of unnerving stripped back techno (akureyri), electro with subtle inflections of dancehall (comatack) and even a big beat/dub influenced jam (music for advertising). as cucumb45 plays with genres as we know them, so he does with the emotional resonance of the release. frequently switching from euphoric to anxious, each track is a testament to his incredible attention to detail. simply put, this is music for those who hate to be labelled.

kreattones third release is here, and we are extremely proud and thrilled to present “day tripper” from the outrageously talented jesse bru. this four-track ep is a lesson on sampling, cutting and building, an aspect already acclaimed and recognized by all that had the chance to hear jesse s work (released on heart to heart, egoplanet, etc…). the opening track shares the ep title and clearly demonstrates mr. bru’s vision on deep-house, with elements coming and going, breaks and drops, all working in perfect harmony. “i want u” is a groundbreaking piece of art, filled with melancholy, heart-driven feelings and shivering whispers, resulting in a gorgeous love song. the first track on the b side, “they told me” is a uplifting tune, with clinic-cut sampling, powerful vocals and beautiful percussion. last but not least “remember how it used to be”, a groovy arrangement of pads and vocals topped with a killer bass, ideal for club use. considering that this one blew our scale, we hope you enjoy this record as much as we do.

new uk based imprint aiming to bring you atmospheric and emotional treats that toe the line between bass heavy, electro leaning, house & techno and everything in between. the label’s first outing comes from the duo thread. tabor kicks of the release and it’s a motorik workout that combines elements of minimal techno and acid, with a squelchy bassline and moody synth melodies all carried along by tight percussions. dalling is a straight up electro jam, a galloping start/stop percussive pattern, ever-present pads with more layers of squelch added for maximum effect. on the flip brackenbury picks up a couple of notches on the bpm counter - driving proceedings to 130+, a proper heads down techy number with elements of micro house, filled with quirky sounds and lush pads layered on top of syncopated percussive patterns. the final cut on the ep conningham does away with all pretences and hits you in the face with another dose of unrelenting space music. heavy bass line, crunchy electro percussions and sci-fi atmospheric pads rounding off the first release in style.
